The Larabar Santa Came Today!

Around 1:30 most days you can find me running down 4 flights of stairs to get my mail. I am always excited when there is something other than bills in the stack of mail.

When I opened up the mailbox today, there was a surprise package from Larabar!  I found myself running back up the stairs in hot pursuit of some scissors to crack the box open.

Lo and behold a Christmas card and tasty treat from the company that makes ‘real food‘.

Yum! I love, love, love coffee!

The card had a very festive message.

We hope you are having a merry and bright holiday season. We also hope you are resting up and re-energizing for the New Year.

As for us, we are looking forward to kicking off 2012 with our newest flavor…Cappuccino! Its our very own house blend of dairy-free Joe.

Enjoy the Treats!

Don’t mind if I do!

When they sent me the Chocolate Chip Cherry Torte I was over the moon about the taste. Seeing how much I love coffee, I couldn’t wait until my next meal. I immediately ripped open a bar and ate half of one on the spot.

  • Taste – Smooth and refreshing, not overtly ‘coffee’. I think a dash of chocolate would be nice, but I suppose that would make it a mocha bar, now wouldn’t it?
  • Smell – Mmm! As soon as you open the wrapper you are transported to a fabulous coffee shop.
  • Texture – Smooth with a few bumps from the almonds and cashews, but it gives some crunch to the bar which is nice.
  • Nutrition – Protein 5 grams, Carbs 22 grams, Fat 10 grams, Calories 200.
  • Ingredients – Dates, almonds, cashews, coffee, and vanilla extract.

I give Cappuccino 3 out of 5 stars.

I fell in love HARD with the Chocolate Chip Cherry Torte. Let’s be honest, its hard to replace a first love. The Cappuccino bar is tasty, but it is not calling my name from the pantry. That being said, this is probably a good thing and in my world that should bump it up to 4 out of 5 stars.

Larabar is a fabulous treat made out of real food, so honestly you can’t go wrong with any of the flavors.

What’s your favorite bar? Do you eat Larabars?

  1. I’ve never had a Larabar before but I’m dying to try one!! I don’t think I would like the cappuccino flavour though – I don’t really like coffee…..yes, seriously!

  2. I haven’t tried Larabar but you do make them sound tempting! I prefer a little higher protein and less fat. My current bar addiction (I allow myself one a day pre-workout) is Parrillo Bars (Parrillo.com) made in the USA in Ohio. John Parrillo is a well known, respected member of the “natural” world of bodybuilding. He has numerous bars to choose from ranging from a “Chew” bar 20P/20C/5F to my current addiction the Bar with 20P/30C/5F in so many different flavor choices. I’d say Pistachio is my all-time fav at the moment with peanut butter/banana running a close second. I think the bars help with that old sweet tooth of mine!!

    • I really like the chocolate and the chocolate chip cherry torte. I have tried a few other Larabar flavors and they don’t suit me, but that is how it is with all things. I will have to try the Parrillo Bars – I have seen them at the store here. Thanks for the suggestion! The Larabars are a complete indulgence and treat for me – basically dessert on a high carb day. 🙂 I think they help with the sweet tooth too because they are super sweet but there is no added sugar, just the fruit sugars. Mmm!

  3. At a recent competition there was a booth featuring IsoBars. They were pricey, but THE best bars I’ve ever tasted. They seem to be available only at shows and certain boutique stores for now.

  4. I make my own. I actually like them better!
Handful of walnuts, handful of dates, splash vanilla, tbsp cocoa pwdr, scoop choc protein powder, splash of water to bind. Food processor and done. Press into pan. I stick in the freezer to cut. So good.

  5. Only when traveling do I have a Larabar, and only when I’m allowed a fruit. Where’s the video though girl?!?! 🙁

    • LOL!!!! I know I need to make more videos. I was going to make one last friday, but I was having an no good, very bad hair day. hah! And Yes, Larabars are a true treat in my world and not even close to an every day occurrence. I actually gave away the other three bars to a girlfriend because there was no way in heck I could fit them in any time soon. 😀

  6. How do you get these free samples???? I LOVEEEE LARABARS!!! Especially the cherry pie and coconut creme pie! I would have loved to try that cappuccino one! So YummY!
