I am a Crossfit newbie, but there is nothing quite like Fitmas to push you past what you thought possible! I have been interested in Crossfit for a long time, but had no idea where to start.
After reading up on it this week, it seems to be a cross between kettlebells, tabata, weight training, and functional training, hence the name Crossfit. The workouts are designed to be explosive, quick, and epic.
There is also a crazy phenomenon called Ludus that my fabulous friend Julia has introduced me to. It is very crossfit-esque, but so far there are no Ludus gyms in Edmonton…at least not according to Google. I guess I just need to make a trip to New Zealand; it only makes sense.
All I know is that its going to get sweat-tay!
Since I had no idea where to start or what a ‘good’ crossfit exercise was, I asked my fit friends. Kim, a fellow competitor from Team K, gave me some great workouts and a place to start.

Depending on your fitness level, I suggest doing two to four crossfit adventures this week. If you just thought, ‘I will do two of these short but epic workouts‘, do three!

Yay! So excited! I WILL CONQUER THEM ALL!
I have NO DOUBT that you will. Woot!
This is great! Cross fit seems like it gets you in an amazing shape! I am going to try to do these challenges and my half marathon training!
All the options look awful! Can’t wait to try them! 🙂
Awful in the gym creates awesome outside of the gym. go get it!!
Just reading those made me exhausted, except the last one – I could do that now! I can’t even imagine trying to attempt 100 pushups in a row, and as for 50 glute ham situps…ouchie!!
I am so excited for this! I actually did #4 on Friday! I’ve been wanting to do the filthy 50 for awhile now, here’s my chance, yipee!!
Go for it lady! Woot!
Wow, the Filthy 50 – you don’t mess around! Those are some intense CrossFit workouts – Good on ya!
Go hard and go home…right? Well I suppose that is if I don’t die…
I completed option #4 two day ago. It was fab – completed 10 rounds in just over 40 minutes. But by round 10, I got only one pullup in – holy my lats are sore now. But I did add 40lbs to the squats.
Hoping to hit the Filthy 50 this weekend. Great stuff!
I do some crossfit-esque type workouts but have never actually been to a “box.” I JUST found out there is one about 10 minutes from my house. Needless to say I cannot wait to visit and try my first full on, hardcore, official crossfit workout. Any tips for my first time?!!? 🙂
I have never been to a ‘box’ either! I am contemplating it this week though. 🙂 Advice I would give myself before going would be don’t die, ask questions, and drink loads of water. I want to hear how it goes!!
AHH! I will definitely let you know how it goes whenever I get over there 🙂 Let me know how it goes when you try too!!
