Bountiful to Pitiful in a Mere 7 Days

Seven days ago my fridge looked like I had stocked up for the Cold War.

That is A LOT of food. The shelves were bowing under the weight all the egg whites, veggies, and fresh fruit.

Donloree's full fridge

Yes...that is 22 cartons of egg whites, or 352 egg whites....and the rest of the fridge is full of veggies and fruits.

That is enough food to keep a small family fed for weeks or apparently one Figure Competitor for seven days. I can’t imagine what it would be like to feed a male bodybuilder! You would have to take a second mortgage out on your house just to keep him fed.

Donloree empty fridge

Heeellllloooo? Anyone home?

Even the crisper drawers are empty!

The milk, yogurt, and tomato juice aren’t even mine. A Figure Competitor cannot live on cucumbers alone!

Do you think its time to invest in another fridge? I mean, going to Costco every seven days is a bit crazy, but if I have an egg fridge that means I would be buying around 75 containers of egg whites at a time.

One pallet of egg whites at checkout number 3!

And how in the world do you make a fridge look good in your living room? Perhaps my one lone plant could disguise it?

I guess I will just have to embrace the fact that Fridays are “Costco Eggstravaganza Day“.

How do you keep all your food for the week fresh?

  1. The first thing I noticed in your fridge was not the egg whites, it was the milk! Blue label means skim, right? I love milk & am totally craving it! It basically isn’t available here on Saipan. All we can get is the processed stuff that doesn’t have to be refrigerated until it’s opened. It’s fine on cereal or in coffee but I’ve been told it doesn’t taste very good by itself. I haven’t broken down & tried it yet. Fresh meat is also a problem. You wouldn’t believe some of the stuff I’ve seen in the stores here. Eww! Positively gross! I guess we’re just very spoiled in Alberta!

    • Yes, we are totally spoiled! I am sending you a a big frosty glass of skim milk right now! 😀 I have a sense I know what your first ‘treat meal’ will be once you’re back home. Steak and a glass of milk. hah!

  2. Hilarious!

I don’t think the second fridge would necessarily have to go in your living room… Don’t people have fridges in the basement and garadge sometimes? It may be worth it, but then again how would you fit all the food you’d buy at one time in the car? Do you have a mini-van? I’m serious. 🙂

    • I don’t have a basement or a garage. I live in a condo…so the only place would be my living room or office…or I could plug it and chain it to the wall in our parking stall perhaps. I’m laughing just thinking about that! Me in my pjs at 4:30 am in a semi-awake state running through the stairwell for egg whites. 🙂

  3. That is me with spinach, eggs, seltzer water (for my manzzz) & chicken!!

  4. It is amazing what people have to eat. I myself am competing in a figure competition and my husband is training for body building.
Last month we spent $1600 on groceries…
    – egg whites
    – veggies
    – chicken
I cannot wait for this competition to be over!
