I find myself on the edge of a cliff. There is nowhere to go but over the edge.
I have travelled long and hard to arrive where I am today.
I will not go back to where I have come from.
Below me is the inky darkness of the unknown, yet in the far off distance the glorious mountain tops of my dreams are peeking through the clouds.
Standing on the edge and listening to the pebbles cascade down the mountainside towards the unknown causes terror and fear to rise up in me.
But I can and will choose courage and strength. Audacious courage and strength.
Inspired by my fantabulous friend Kari, I too stake my claim. Today marks day one of me journeying towards earning my pro card.
I do not know how long this journey will take or how exactly to get there. Heck even Google maps doesn’t know.
I have known obstacles in my path such as:
but they can and will be overcome.
When even larger obstacles loom in front of me, I only need to look back to see what I have already conquered.
“You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt
Most days I don’t think I can do this, so I MUST do this.
I must jump off the cliff and fly.
I don’t know how long it will take, who I will encounter, or what will happen.
All I do know is who I am and who I am going to be. I choose to be courageous, strong, and the best Donloree this planet has ever seen.
I choose to be me.
On the day that I receive my pro card, my greatest achievement will not be how my body looks, rather who I have become. The pro card will merely be an outward sign of all that I have achieved on the inside.
It is hard to post this picture, but this is where it starts.
The beginning is important because if there is no beginning there can be no end.
And so I jump into the abyss of the unknown with my heart leading the way.
You go girl! If anyone can, you can!
Thanks lady! Here I go!!!!
Mecca eh, so you’re converting to Islam now?
Yay!! I’m so super excited for you and proud of you. The journey to winning a pro card can be long and scary, but I believe you have the heart, the determination, and the sheer willpower it takes. We’re all behind you and supporting and cheering for you. No matter how long it takes, how many obstacles you have to overcome, the journey and what you’re going to learn about yourself will be one of your greatest accomplishments. Let’s do this thing!
Let’s do this thing indeed my fantabulous friend! 🙂
That’s GREAT! You’re on your way from GREAT to GREATER! I will go with you there, maybe not pro card but I’m still working at acheiving my first competition.
Let’s get our goals together lady!! I am here with you in the craziness, its go time for both of us.
Awesome! I am here to cheer you on all the way! Such a great goal!
Thanks Liz! If you’re in my cheering team there is no doubt that I will make it through to the end. 🙂
Just fabulous! And how powerful to say it out loud like this. Chase down that dream. I have no doubt you will achieve it. No doubt in my mind. xo
Your confidence and support means the world to me. Thank you!
You’ve got this baby! and we got your back! Have you picked out a fall show yet?
I read your blog daily. I’m not a figure competitor, but I’m going for the olympic trials in long distance running, and am going through the very same mental journey of a comeback and personal, internal growth and self-discovery. You can do it, and I look forward to seeing you get your pro card as much as I look forward to being in the olympic trials.
Wow! Congratulations on setting your own audacious goal. That is an amazing goal to achieve. 🙂 I can’t wait to see you do it. Yes, let’s chase down our dreams and let the world see the true champions that we are! Go girl!!!
You go, girl! Keep fighting. If anybody can do this, we all know you can. Read a short biography on Eleanor Roosevelt recently and I agree, I think she was a bedazzled bikini kind of gal 😉
