Heroes Among Us

According to Merriam Webster a hero is: a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability or an object of extreme admiration and devotion.

I don’t know if it came from reading books growing up or what the reason really is, but I don’t have heroes…at least not the in usual sense. My heroes aren’t the Jamie Eason‘s of the world and their names may never be in lights.

My heroes are people that:

  • Never give up no matter how many times they get pushed down and trampled on by life
  • Choose forgiveness over hate
  • Stop to help the old lady cross the street even when it makes them late
  • Don’t think twice to lend a helping hand
  • See rainbows in the sky when all you can see is grey thunderclouds
  • Give their last dollar without hesitation to someone that is less fortunate than they are
  • Refuse to let bitterness grown in their heart and always choose to plant love instead
  • See your greatness and remind you of it when you’ve lost your way
  • Do things without any regard for the accolades they may or may not get

You have my extreme admiration and devotion.

Heroes walk among us every day, impacting and changing the world in amazing ways.

Thank you for being your heroic self; it is changing the world!

  1. LOVE LOVE LOVE this one!

  2. Thanks for this fantastic post! I agree with you 100%! Those people are the REAL heroes!!

  3. Not that people at the top of the industry are not inspiring, but I agree 110% with Donloree. The most inspiring are those average people that over come great adversity. Like in any sport, most the of the participants are the average joe, not everyone was blessed with the genetics, etc. to be a magazine cover model or marathon winner. But in each competition and each race there are the thousands or hundreds of people that are out there giving it their all. That doesn’t mean that being a champion is not achievable, but there is something to be said about the person who busts their butt to be the best that they can be just for themselves because at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what others think of you, just what you think of yourself. 😀 Thanks for another great post Donloree!
