While training for a Figure Competition you have to be very organized and disciplined about when and what you eat. If you spend the day out and about you will most likely be found with a huge tote bag with 4-6 meals in it; all measured out to perfectly meet your macronutrients.
I have been found eating a salad, almonds, and a strange greek yogurt mixture standing in a mall, in a parking lot in the middle of a snow storm, and in a Burger King. When I finally get to eat I am so hungry and happy to eat. There is nothing in the world that could make me happier at that moment.
There are times though when I can’t eat due to social circumstances or because I am in the middle of something that won’t allow me to dive into an epic salad. As the moments tick by I get so hungry that I just can’t help but be angry. This is what I have come to call hangry.
Hangry – (hang-gree). Noun. A state of being or an emotion that comes from being a on strict diet and then not being able to eat your lean protein and vegetables at the specified time. Hanger is intense and should be avoided at all costs.
When I am hangry all I can think about is eating. Eating ANYTHING…even my own arm.

Hanger makes Figure Competitors desperate....desperate enough to gnaw on their own arms if it comes down to it!
If you see a woman with this look on her face, simply throw a boiled 100 gram chicken breast, 4 celery sticks, and two bell peppers at her and back away slowly.
It takes about 15 minutes to for the hanger to subside once the chicken and vegetables have been consumed.
Once she is satiated you will know by the calm and serene look that washes over her face.
Hanger is something that cannot be controlled, but can be avoided. Β For the sake of everyone, hanger should be avoided at all costs!
Am I the only one that suffers from the effects of hanger?
Hanger is very real! If it has been more than 2.5 hrs since my last meal, I turn from cuddly to I will claw your eyeballs out if I don’t eat!! π

It makes me feel better to know that I am in such good company. Hanger scares my husband every time! You would think he would be accustomed to it by now. π
I am totally with you on the hangry.
I love this new word. I totally feel ya on this one. I am
always thinking about when I get to eat next. I try not to take it
out on others but sometimes I do it without realizing.
I have started to just tell people that I am ‘hangry’ and that everything coming from me is over the top right now!
I get hangry during meetings all of the time. I start to get mad at the person presenting!!! worse is when i’m driving then i have hanger road rage – GET OUT OF MY WAY before I chew your car off the road!
LOL!!! I can completely relate to the hanger road rage! Slow drivers beware if it’s feeding time because there is no telling what I will do!
T.
Road rage hanger – YES! I totally get that way too. I need to keep chicken and almonds in my purse!!!
I get hangry. I also get ‘distructed’ (distracted/distructive). So for the times I cannot pull out planned meal of cottage cheese and carrots, or veggies and chicken, or some such business-meeting-inappropriate-meal plan food, I carry all natural protein bars. Not ideal, but less weird looks and explanation required!
Ooh, all natural protein bars? Do you make these yourself? If so I am in need of recipe! π
