Bikini Or Bust Challenge

Everyone is asking me, ‘What’s next?”

Let’ see…hmmm…I don’t want to go to the moon, I have already embarked on a new career, and I don’t want to do anything that requires a harness so climbing Mount Everest is out. I have some other ideas in the works, but they need some thinking through before I go for them.

What I do know is that I want to compete again in April, and I don’t want to do it alone.  Community and accountability is paramount in helping people to be successful; life is not meant to be lived alone.

Let’s do something big, and let’s do it together. Come compete with me!

I would like to feature three other women once a month for 4-6 months that are chasing down their dream of competing on stage in a bedazzled bikini. We will share our stories, struggles, triumphs, nutrition tips, and ridiculousness as we travel to our next destination together.

Some of the things that will be shared by the women are:

  • Stories of each of the women
  • Goals
  • Progress pictures
  • Diets and recipes
  • Struggles
  • Achievements
  • Work out tips

If you are interested in being one of the featured women in the Bikini Or Bust Challenge, please email me at dl at or comment below by October 29, 2010 at midnight and tell me about your goal, when you are competing, and a little bit about yourself!

To participate, you must be willing to:

  • Be interviewed monthly for 4-6 months
  • Have progress pictures and information about you posted online each month
  • Be all natural in your training
  • Competition date between March 1, 2011 and May 31, 2011
  • Live anywhere in the world!

The three women will be chosen by some sort of selection process that I am not sure of yet! I will keep you posted on the selection…it depends how many women are willing to participate.  If there are only three, well then those are the three!

Jump off the cliff with me and see how far we can fly together.

So who’s coming with?

  1. Well missy, I am most definitely doing another competition! Mine is March 20th and I’m pretty sure I will be doing bikini =) However, I will probably not start my actual contest prep until right after Christmas. That will give me a full 12 weeks. I am still a workout fiend now and “trying” to eat decent, but that’s a work in progress. When I am 12 weeks out though, I’m on 100% of my game. I’m even getting a personal trainer this time!

My goal is to lean out and feel confident when I walk on that stage. I want to know that I worked 100% for it.

About me? Hmmm, I’m a wife to a police officer who works at night, so we don’t see eachother much. I have three kids- all boys, 9, 4, 1 1/2. I work full time at a police station as the police clerk. I am in the NY Air National Guard, AND, finally (jesus) I am a full time student. My student status will end very soon though because after 3 years of straight school I will FINALLY have my bachelors after December. Phew. That’s it. So my spare time, is in the gym. That’s pretty much all I have time for =)

Talk to you soon. I hope to hear other people’s stories too!!

  2. Ok seriously vibrating with excitement at the prospect of competing and leaping off that cliff. Do you think it’s realistic for me? Seriously. Tell it to me straight.

  3. Please see my email!!

  4. Please post your competition photos!

  5. Well this seems right up my alley! I will send you an email later with my goals! I am off to the gym!

  6. With you all the way! DEF want to join you on this next trek!

  7. Cindy Smith says

Donloree. I’m not up for competing in a bikini, but I’d like to commit to losing weight and firming up. If I made of goal of April when your next competition is, I could commit to a goal of a 15 pound weight loss by then. I did work out with a trainer a few years ago for a year and a half and lost a measly pound (but did lose 16% body fat). Would be nice to have a community that can give tips and pointers on nutrition as I think that’s where I need the most “tweaking”. Can’t afford a trainer or a gym membership right now so would plan to do it all on my own at home.

  8. Okay here we go. SHow March 12, Phoenix. This 35 year old single chick has been cutting fat for about 3 yrs and has gone from 30% to about 19%. She’s also a former Ironman triathalet turned serious and crazy weight lifter. I would love to be a part of this, share her story and hope to help and inspire others along the way!

  9. What a great idea!! I am prepping for my second show and it’s always nice to read other people’s stories who are going through similar trials & tribulations 🙂

    Can’t wait to follow along!

On a side note, Michelle – are you doing the NPC Miles Productions show in Phoenix?? I will be in attendance cheering on a friend who will be competing!

  10. I’d be keen!

My first show of 2011 is in March in little old New Zealand.

Have been above 35% , set a goal to do a comp (I tried physique) and placed second in my first show. Did another couple over the next two years and always placed.

Then met Mr Right number two and got remarried had kids and went right back up to above 30% (however not as fat as the first time I was fat) then decided to do a comp as a way to get back into training when my son was 4 months old. So trained hard and got back up on stage.

My show in March is all about being “a bigger and better package” .. this time round Im doing figure, those shoes are a killer .. I could be a good laugh just following me trying to stand in those damn shoes!

  11. Hey everyone!

I just stumbled across this blog through twitter and I spent all of last night reading through Donloree’s posts. Amazing work girl, you are a true inspiration..
I’m a Canadian, living in Australia who has been toying with the idea of training for a competition. I finally decided that this coming May 2011 I will compete!

I like to consider myself the skinny fat person… I may look thin under my bulks of clothes I wear, but I am truly trying to cover up the fat tummy that I have acquired since I started drinking wine.. ha.

I just bought my first pair of posing shoes, and am already starting to try and prance around in them.. Lordy, lordy..

But I really would love to show people that a regular 23 year old can achieve the dream she has been thinking about for ages.. Finally I am going to do something and make a dream become a reality! JUST LIKE YOU!

  12. Tenecia – yes that’s the one!
And yes prepping is key but I’m a lazy prepper. I buy packets of tuna and the 100 calorie almond packets and eat that with a plain piece of ezequel bread…I also buy the pre – chopped onions…I can cut tomatoes/peppers/cucumber but I draw the line at onions! I am a huge fan of True Lemon as well to add to water when I just can’t drink any more plain water!
