I Knew I Had It In Me, I Was Just Afraid

“You’re not even the same woman any more!”

“I didn’t know you had this in you!”

“You’ve completely changed who you are, eh?”

These are a few of the comments I get these days. People that haven’t seen me in a long time are definitely in for a surprise, I will give you that!  But it’s still me, just more of me.

Interestingly enough, as I have lost the pounds, cottage cheese, slimmed down the muffin top, and said goodbye to my ‘happy arms‘, I am actually BIGGER and MORE than I used to be.

It takes courage to take care of yourself and not be complacent about who you are and where you are going in life.  Admitting that you aren’t happy with your health, attitude, self discipline, and what is going on in your heart and then change it is not an easy feat. You have to be brave to be who you were made to be and be ALL OF IT.

To have the self discipline required to train for this competition, I had to confront many fears and lies I believed about myself and find out who I actually am.

For years I have been thinking about doing something like this.  I knew I had it in me, I was just afraid.

The fear never really goes away, but it is eventually overshadowed by confidence, self assurance, and success.

So what’s in you that you are afraid of? GO FOR IT! Jump off the cliff and see what happens, you may just end up flying!

Donloree, it was an absolute pleasure competing with you on October 16. Your words of encouragement to this figure ‘newbie’, and your smiles and high-5s helped make the day just that much more special. I can’t wait to compete with you in the April show. Let’s go girl!
