I am sick and tired of the excuses

Most of the world is waiting for you to fail.

This is not a ‘glass half empty’ statement; its a ‘look, there’s a glass’ statement.

We live in a world where 95% of people criticize and try to bring other people down.

After all, if you fail then I have an excuse to not try.

Look. She tried and it didn’t work. It cannot be done. I am going to sit on my arse and watch the world go by rather than be embarrassed by failing.

Excuses to give up rattle around in my brain all day long.

  • Wow. You keep trying and it still doesn’t work.
  • This is hard. It has to be easier, you’re doing something wrong. Just stop.
  • You are making a fool out of yourself.
  • Speak to this group of people? Who you? You’re nobody!
  • You aren’t losing weight, so you should just have chocolate cake smothered in ice cream.
  • You’re all alone out here. This is what you envisioned?
  • 7 people showed up DLoree. If this is the best you can do, then you should stop doing.
  • You are slaving away, doing all this ‘stuff’ and where exactly has it gotten you? Mmmhmmm…
  • You just failed right there. Yup, that is a total failure. If you can’t do the simplest things, why try for more? Just stop.

Somewhere along the way we started to believe that the dreams that live inside of us are impossible and that it is better to not try than to fail.

Not trying is failure.

Discipline is outwardly mocked and inwardly coveted. Giving up is understood. Negative self-talk is 100% acceptable. Success is viewed as something ‘lucky’ people have.

jump past the impossible, that is where your dreams live

Luck has nothing to do with it.

It takes years of discipline, heart, and tenacity to become an overnight success. When opportunity shows up, the time to prepare is long gone.

I am sick and tired of listening to excuses for failure. If I am going to have an excuse, it is going to be for anything but failure.

It may take a lifetime, but when the opportunity arrives I will have an uh-may-zing excuse to be an overnight success.

Keep going. Press forward. Do not stop.

What is your excuse going to be for?

  1. What a great message. Keep going at it… and I’m going to keep coming back to these thoughts you got down here. Actually, these words are going down in my little book 🙂 Thanks for the uplifting message. Drown out the noise with the thoughts of how it will all pay off in the end!

  2. YOU my friend ARE Uh-MAY-ZING!!! what a wonderful note for me to read today…thank you for that little blessing xox

  3. Amen, sistah.
I just had the realization of how much I have accomplished since September. There were so many things that I could not do that I now do with, um ease? Okay, maybe not the best of ease, but I can do them. I think anything worth accomplishing takes the determination and practice to do it. Just like the old saying, we didn’t start out walking or running, you gotta take one step to get there.
I wasn’t always the best at thinking that way. Did I have ( and still do at times) have negative thoughts? Sure. But you have to squash them and push ahead!

    Love your posts lady!!

    • Squash them like the superstar that you are! Thoughts come, but we don’t have to keep them. This has been the biggest thing I have learned this year. If you had sticky gum on the bottom of your shoe, you would scrape it off. Same goes for negative thoughts; scrape it off and keep going!

  4. Love this post Donloree!!! Love the thought of scraping bad thoughts off like chewing gum too, i’ll remember that one! Needed to read this today THANK YOU 🙂

  5. I was going to say ‘It’s unbelievable to me that you have these thoughts, when everyone who reads your blogs is constantly awed by your positivity, perserverance, integrity, generosity, intelligence, determination and achievements’ but that’s how it is (me too) and I am even more impressed that you have these thoughts and OVERCOME THEM!!! You go girlie, rocking on as always, and remember what an inspiration you are to others. I just can’t accept point 6 though, surely you know you are never, ever alone, when you have the good vibes and encouragement of all your readers? Blah, away with you negative thoughts, you aren’t even true or honest, so we have no time for you AT ALL! You have no credence here.

    • YES! I love my readers, LOVE you. Away with the stupid negative thoughts, they have no basis in reality and they are not true. We all have them, but it doesn’t mean we have to keep them. 🙂

  6. I love this. True adversity right here. Bad times shmad times, you held on and made it through. You rock and are a true inspriation.

I was reading the posts on twitter last night about excuses. It’s so funny to me.You have people like us who get up while the world sleeps so we can get our workouts in. And if we don’t, we are just plain bitchy. So the “I don’t have time” excuse is my biggest pet peeve but it’s one I hear over and over again. Hey, I was in prep for a show, going to school full time, working full time, being a mom, wife (to a cop, who worked nights and a LOT of overtime!), and taking care of my house and dogs. Let’s see, if I have the time then anyone has the time!

    Rock on sister!!!
