I Remember and am Free.
Posted on 11 November 2009
Today I remember the sacrifice and commitment that brave Canadian men and women have made and are still making for me this very day.
They don’t know my name, yet trade their safety for mine.
We have never met, but they have made my freedom their primary concern.
I wake up every morning without fear of being imprisoned, beaten, or jailed. Compared to most of the world, my life is a whimsical walk in the park that I take for granted.
My heart is deeply thankful for the many Canadians who have given up their families, freedom, and lives so that I can freely have all they have sacrificed and more.
May their devotion not go unnoticed and move us to gratitude, this day and every day.
