Night Owl-itis
Posted on 26 October 2009
I try to be responsible *ahem* boring which means going to bed at a decent hour and being sensible. The reasoning behind this is to be well rested for my day and not to forget somthing that every woman needs in the morning when I head off to the gym at 6 am.
Lately, I am totally irresponsible. I’m not doing crazy things likes shopping for shoes every day or anything. I am merely a night owl. At about 8:00 I find myself getting sleepy, and then at about 8:15 I get a huge burst of energy.
This is when I clean the house, write proposals, catch up on email, knit a sweater, tile my kitchen, install a toilet, or bake large quantities of brownies to eat that evening. I find myself wide awake and coming up with amazing ideas, only to find it’s 1 am.
So I go to bed. And lay there thinking about my latest great idea, wondering why I am still awake and if the alarm clock will understand I don’t actually hate it when I hit it for the 15th snooze when it rings in 4 hours.
Night Owl-itis is a vicious cycle to get in. I see no end in sight as I am merely starting up for the evening. Pan of brownies anyone?
HELP!

I’m the same way. Once I finally GET to be, I lie there and wonder why I’m so awake. It’s maddening! Of course, I usually design web sites rather than bake brownies, but that’s just because I’m not a huge chocolate fan.
(FYI, awesome new masthead, A++)
DL…you are awesome…I love reading you little insights…feels like I’m catching up on your life. LOVE the pic of your eyes and cool glasses…completely fits with your stories! Are you writing a book? If so, when and where can I get it?! Miss you and Jon:)
You live my dream, kind of….at least accomplishing so much with the energy. I have “night owl-itis” but with a twist. The twist being I’m exhausted at 8:00, finally head to bed at around 10:00 and then am wide awake at 1 am but too exhausted to get out of bed. So I start thinking of the things I’d love to do, wishing I could fall asleep. Ah, for some energy.
That doesn’t sound good at all! I will try sending over my late night energy and see if it helps! Heck, it may just show up on your doorstep one night with Brenda and Larry!
